Can’t learn a foreign language? Not true, say scientists
The brain can learn a new word in less than 15 minutes, according to scientists, whose finding will rob many of the excuse that they can’t learn a foreign language.
He said: “What this suggests is that practising language is important. Every little helps.
“Just perception – listening – is helpful. Our volunteers didn’t repeat the words.”

Note from Sra. Rose –
Learning a language involves 85-90% LISTENING SKILLS!!! -
That’s how you learned English!
If you are not a good listener, you need to develop that skill in order to learn a new language well.
Through listening, you can learn new vocabulary, AND you can also internalize the grammatical structures of that language.
I have you learn the new vocabulary by LISTENING to it over and over while you practice the gestures that represent the meaning of the new vocabulary. IF you participate well in the gesturing process, you will know the new vocabulary, its meaning AND will recognize it when you hear it.
In class I will use that new vocabulary in stories. You will listen to stories, act out the stories, and draw the stories. The stories provide the grammatical structures that you need to know in order to communicate well in the language. As you hear the story, see it acted out, answer questions using the new vocabulary and grammatical structures, you will acquire the language. In order to achieve this, you will have to LISTEN and should find yourself thinking in the language as a result.
It all takes your active involvement in the class!!!! LISTENING is active involvement. It is a skill that will help you the rest of your life.

Dos niñas están en el parque nacional de Yellowstone. Dos niños están en el parque. Los niños no tienen pelo, son calvos, y comen carne con las manos.
Las niñas tienen un gato y una pelota. Ellas ven a los niños. Las niñas les dan el gato a los niños. El gato come la carne en las manos de los niños. Ellas (Las niñas) tiran la pelota. Los niños están tristes. No tienen carne, no tienen la pelota y no tienen el gato.
